Bio
My first art memory is of the impromptu mural I scrawled on
the freshly painted wall of my parent’s dining room.
My earliest influences were the technical mastery of the cubists and surrealists of the early 20th Century. In 1971, studying at Instituto Allende, San Mieguel De Allende, Mexico, I was influenced by the style and political commitment of Diego Rivera. It was therethe seeds of my painting style were sown.
From 1973-1975 I broadened my design horizons as costume and set designer for All Arts, a New Jersey repertory opera company, followed by three years (1976-1979) as principal costume designer for the Philadelphia Civic Ballet. In 1978, I opened my antique china and porcelain restoration business, becoming nationally recognized as one of the premier experts in the country and became influenced by the cloud vector motif in Asian art.
In 1980 I began to explore a painting style of my own invention. Experimentation with content, color, and glazing, evolved the style. To date over 100 paintings have been purchased by collectors.
During the 1990’s I collaborated on many beautiful murals with artist Tom Boyer of Painted Finishes Design. The ninety’s also saw the birth of a new passion, writing Horror Fiction. In 1997 I published an illustrated novel VAMPIRE LOVER online at WritersHood.com, a monthly internet fiction magazine where I served ten years as Horror Page Editor, selecting content, contributing monthly columns, and writing book reviews.
VAMPIRE LOVER was released in trade paperback by PortTown Publishing in December 2004. My short story DEAD FUNNY was featured in DEATH GRIP 3; IT CAME FROM THE CINEMA, an anthology published January 2005. My second book with PortTown, the illustrated anthology POST CRYPT, was released in August, 2006.
I am currently working on new writing projects, and continuing to paint and explore new avenues, including sculpture and found object art.
